The tuning slide is one of the most influential components affecting how a trumpet feels to play. For C trumpet players especially, even subtle changes to the instrument’s geometry can have a noticeable effect on response, resistance, and the overall playing experience.

The Blackburn C Round Tuning Slide is designed for players seeking the most open, free-blowing response possible. Its full-round crook creates a smooth, uninterrupted air path that encourages the instrument to resonate with minimal resistance while preserving the clarity and precision expected from a C trumpet.

If your C trumpet feels tight or restrictive, the Round Tuning Slide is an elegant way to open the instrument’s feel without changing its essential character. Many players notice a broader sound, greater ease of airflow, and a more effortless response that allows the instrument to speak naturally throughout its range.

Each tuning slide is handcrafted in our Lexington, Kentucky workshop using custom brass tubing and crooks that are drawn and formed in-house. Every slide is assembled with a durable Amado® water key, a brass cross brace, then carefully hand polished and individually inspected before leaving our shop.
