All new Bert Truax Signature Mouthpiece!  A model developed with Bert to facilitate comfort and prestine playability.  

Offered as a clear acrylic top that provides comfort, each of playing, and warmth.

A master teacher, his former teachers include Joseph Alessi Sr., Bill Adam, James Stamp, and Gilbert Johnson. Bert has held professorships at SMU, UNT, Texas A&M Commerce, as well as maintaining a successful private studio. For 6 summers he has hosted a week-long trumpet camp in Dallas, TX, that has featured such trumpet greats as Philip Smith, Ryan Anthony, Marvin Stamm, and Jon Lewis. He looks forward to the 2015 camp.

"The Truax mouthpiece is ideal for players with braces. The unique acrylic top makes it easier to buzz, and it's light weight allows for less pressure. This design of a full acrylic top also means there is no metal conflicting with the metal of the braces. They are also less expensive, and just as effective as other professional grade mouthpieces costing much more."

The Bert Truax acrylic mouthpiece top model is available in 1.5, 3, 5, and 7 rim sizes, all with a 27 throat.  We recommend combining the Truax top with a #10-2/27 backbore.

Cleaning & Care

To keep your acrylic mouthpiece looking brand new and not fracturing:

  • Do not drop or otherwise hit the mouthpiece - it will fracture!
  • Wash with warm water and soap, both inside and out.
  • Do not overtighten your backbore to the mouthpiece top
  • Apply very light slide grease to the threads
