Made in the USA
S.E. Shires Company trombone mouthpieces for large-bore instruments are built for an open, free-blowing response with a big, centered core and the projection players need in orchestral, solo and jazz settings. The Shires large-bore mouthpieces are offered in multiple rim sizes, cup depths and large-shank backbores so players can tailor comfort, slotting, and tonal weight for tenor and bass trombones; they’re made to tight tolerances and ship standard silver-plated.
The design lineage for these mouthpieces traces back to Steve Shires’s work building custom brass instruments beginning in the mid-1990s and his effort to preserve the best features of classic American mouthpiece shapes while applying modern manufacturing precision. Founded in 1995, S.E. Shires developed its mouthpiece lines by collaborating with leading players and studying vintage American designs, then partnering with Pickett Brass to reproduce those vintage virtues with repeatable accuracy and modern tolerances.
