The soprano cornet occupies a unique place in the brass world.

It must soar above the ensemble with brilliance and clarity, yet still blend seamlessly with the warm, lyrical character of the cornet section. Achieving both requires an instrument with exceptional balance, impeccable intonation, and absolute consistency.

The Blackburn Eb Soprano Cornet was created to meet that challenge.

Built around Blackburn's legendary MD19 bell, the instrument produces a rich, focused sound that projects effortlessly without becoming thin or brittle. Even when pushed to the upper limits of its dynamic range, the tone remains warm, centered, and unmistakably musical. The result is a soprano cornet that inspires confidence whether leading a brass band or performing as a soloist.

The carefully matched leadpipe, .453" bore, and semisquare tuning slide work together to provide exceptional response throughout the instrument's range. Attacks are clean and dependable, articulations remain secure, and the instrument responds evenly from the lowest register to the highest notes. Players are free to focus on musical expression rather than managing the instrument.

While designed with the demands of championship brass band performance in mind, the Blackburn Eb Soprano Cornet is equally at home in solo performance, chamber music, and any setting where brilliance, agility, and the unmistakable voice of the soprano cornet are required.

Every Blackburn instrument is handcrafted in Lexington, Kentucky using the same meticulous craftsmanship that has defined the Blackburn name for decades. Each soprano cornet is individually assembled, precision fitted, and play-tested to ensure outstanding response, dependable intonation, and exceptional consistency before it reaches the performer.

The Blackburn Eb Soprano Cornet is built for musicians who refuse to compromise—delivering the confidence, beauty, and precision that one of brass music's most demanding voices deserves.
