The Pickett Brass British Style 1-Piece Cornet Mouthpiece is designed to capture the rich, warm, and beautifully expressive sound that defines the British brass band tradition. Featuring specially developed deep V-shaped cup designs, carefully matched throat sizes, and a shorter, balanced backbore, this popular mouthpiece series delivers the characteristic dark, mellow cornet sound while maintaining excellent response, precise articulation, and reliable intonation.

Developed through more than two decades of collaboration with world-class musicians, Pickett mouthpiece designs emphasize comfort, efficient response, and tonal flexibility. Our British Cornet Series takes this philosophy a step further, with specialized internal geometries designed to produce a fuller, warmer sound than our standard cornet mouthpieces. The carefully engineered cup-to-throat transitions promote smooth airflow, while the shorter overall mouthpiece length compensates for the increased internal volume to support accurate intonation. A slightly larger shank-end diameter provides additional security and slotting, helping players maintain a centered sound throughout the instrument's range.

Whether performing lyrical solos, blending within a traditional brass band cornet section, or navigating demanding technical passages, the British Cornet Series offers a selection of cup configurations tailored to different playing preferences.

Choose from four distinct cup designs:

• Standard (#16 throat): Our deepest V-shaped cup, producing a rich, dark, and traditional British cornet sound with a broad tonal character.
• Medium Shallow – MS (#16 throat): Maintains much of the warmth and depth of the Standard cup while introducing additional compression at the throat entrance for a slightly more resistant, focused response.
• Shallow – S (#19 throat): A modified cup shape with a more rounded, C-shaped profile, offering greater efficiency, additional tonal color, and a versatile balance of warmth and brilliance.
• Very Shallow – VS (#24 throat): A shallower V-shaped cup with increased resistance, designed for players seeking a more compact, supportive feel while retaining the characteristic warmth of the British cornet sound.

At the heart of every British Cornet Mouthpiece is our renowned Pickett Brass rim design, developed with input from accomplished musicians including Vince DiMartino and Bryan Appleby-Wineberg. These carefully engineered rim profiles provide a comfortable, secure feel while supporting clean articulation, flexibility, and consistent response.

Unlike our modular mouthpiece system, the British Cornet Series integrates the rim, cup, throat, and backbore into a single, seamless design, carefully balanced to deliver the distinctive sound and playing characteristics associated with traditional British cornet performance.

Designed and manufactured in Lexington, Kentucky, every Pickett mouthpiece is precision-machined using our proprietary CAD/CAM technology, meticulously hand-finished, and individually inspected to ensure exceptional quality and consistency.
