How does your trombone mouthpiece system work?

1 min read

Pickett trombone mouthpieces follow a similar sizing system to other brands, such as Bach, where the smaller number represents a larger mouthpiece size. With 1 being the largest option and 15 being the smallest, there are a wide range of options available. For example, a Bach 5G would be closest to our 5M (medium cup) paired with a 5C (classic rim).

Pickett Brass trombone mouthpieces are available in two configurations

  • One piece
  • Two piece
    • Screw Rim
      • C (Classic) rim profile
      • R (Round) rim profile
    • Underpart threaded for rims
      • Depths (depending on the series)
        • S (Shallow)
        • M (Medium)
        • D (Deep)
        • L (Lead)
      • Blanks
        • Standard blank
        • Lightweight blank

The majority of customers choose to go with the Pickett Brass 2 piece trombone mouthpiece system since it allows you to change the rim profile or material very easily to suit your playing conditions.
